This is the video of a journey: the song, his music, and the cassette tape that serves as the ship to take us on that adventure.“Bombay” opens with a small introductory monologue by El Guincho himself, Pablo Díaz-Reixa. Drifting about in front of a planetary backdrop, he presents us with paraphrased quotes from Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos“, reminiscent of elementary school sciences films. The opening approaches its crescendo as he takes a seat over a hazy vista and launches a gilded cassette tape on a journey.
Once launched, the track explodes with the multi-layered sampled beats Díaz-Reixa is notable for. Most prominent is the luring beat of the steel calypso drum and that, accompanied by the different claps, ushers us off on our explosive voyage of visual and aural delight.
This video is a variety of seemingly non-sequitur clips bridged together to form a unified piece that captivates our attention. From the a’la mode washed-out vintage look to the seductive sexuality and action, it is impossible take your eyes off the screen.
Proud and pleased to welcome Michale Sevy to the team: a man of musical taste and substance, with an eye for videography and knack for words.
ummmm this is fucking cool as shit.
I’m all about this.
